Exchange Rate Auto Update keeps res.currency.rate fresh automatically instead of updating exchange rates by hand. Pick a data source, set a base currency and a schedule, and the scheduled action does the rest, working out of the box with a free source and requiring no API key.
Key Features
Multi-Source Rate Fetching
Choose the European Central Bank (free, no API key, default source), Open Exchange Rates (bring your own key) or exchangerate.host (bring your own key) as the FX data provider.
Scheduled Fetch with Full History
A configurable-interval cron job (hours/days/weeks/months) writes dated res.currency.rate records, preserving full rate history; a fetch never overwrites a previous day's rate, only today's.
Manual Update Now
An on-demand 'Update Now' action refreshes rates immediately outside the scheduled interval.
Rounding & Buy/Sell Margin
Configurable rounding precision and an optional buy/sell margin (spread) is applied on top of the fetched mid-market rate, with the resulting buy and sell rates stored alongside the mid rate for reference.
Fetch Log with Error Visibility
Every fetch is recorded in a log with status, currency count, applied source and a clear error message whenever a provider cannot be reached or returns bad data.
Configurable Base Currency & Cross-Rate Rebasing
The base currency is configurable independently of the company currency, with automatic cross-rate rebasing when the source's native base differs from the configured one.

Why Choose This Module
Manually keying in exchange rates every day is tedious and error-prone, and Odoo's built-in currency rate mechanism does not fetch anything on its own. This module closes that gap with a scheduled, auditable fetch pipeline that works out of the box with a free ECB feed, supports paid providers when broader currency coverage is needed, and keeps a full dated history so no past rate is ever silently overwritten.
